Hallelujah! Hallelujah!Yes, it's true! We have finally reached the point where we have an official close of escrow date! December 29th!
Unfortunately, as a close date, it sucks! Right in the middle of our Christmas travel plans. However, we've made the decision that we aren't moving in until the end of January since there are a number of aftermarket items we want to complete before getting furniture and personal items settled into the house.
We have a complete repaint of the inside scheduled for January since the builder would not do the color Jan wanted, wallpaper accents, floating shelves, rock on a TV wall, maybe some additional tile work, etc.
As you'll see below, our builder is making progress on the final items of the build process, namely the pool and landscaping. The big trick is making sure we are getting the right plants, and planting them in the correct locations. Our resident police woman, Jan, is ensuring that happens.
Side Walkway
Nothing special here other than this location is where all of the pool equipment, air conditioning compressors, electrical panels (what's up with e-panels being outdoors, Arizona??) and garbage cans will exist. Two gates are still to be delivered, along with additional landscape rock.
This is the opposite side yard where a number of fruit trees, and a small herb garden will exist, assuming the little bunnies don't jump a six foot fence and devour the garden.
Backyard
This is the beginning of a gas fire pit next to the side of the pool. Hopefully we'll be able to afford using this with Biden's natural gas prices skyrocketing this winter. (Sorry, I had to say it.) Picture if you will, the same stone on top as on the pool coping.
They finally started working on the pool again, adding the pool scupper and cinderblocks where the gas fire pots will be located. The tubes sticking up in the baja bench and on the floor of the pool are the pool cleaners that I referred to previously.
To the left of the pool will be where the pergola, or ramada, sits (the four white posts).
The cinderblocks are the outdoor BBQ area that will house a smoker (Texas roots) and a gas BBQ, along with assorted drawers, cabinets, etc. There will be a large table and chairs under the pergola for seated outdoor dining. We may charge fees if the gas gets too expensive. (Oops, did it again. Sorry!)
This is a broader view of the backyard area.
View below from the living room sliding doors. All of this area will be covered in travertine pavers up to the pool line, and surrounded by plants.
Interior
The kitchen area is still not finished (minus the glass cabinet doors, wallpaper, stools) and some finish work, but in general, this is how it looks.
The new refrigerator doors arrived to replace the damaged ones shipped by the gorillas.
Master Bathroom
Circling back to our bathtub saga, the jetted tub is finally in, looking a bit different from the original design, but it will work. We're now waiting for the glass, separating the tub from the shower, to be installed.
Outside Entrance
This is a picture of the fountain we just purchased to go in the front courtyard. Picture it in a slate color. Thankfully, it doesn't need gas!
That's it for this week, but we'll have more next week! See ya!
