WEEK #39: The Tortoise Story Continues...
We chose to skip over Week 38 since nothing significant really happened at the house except a couple of re-dos, basically a damaged window sill, a replaced cracked window, and enlarging the wine cooler wall enclosure (a second time).
Apparently the window sill was damaged when they installed the quartz counter in the Command Center. It has since been removed and replaced, and looks fine now.
Kitchen Area
The plumber(s) finally arrived and all of the sinks, faucets, toilets, etc. were installed the later part of last week. Jan still needs to check each room to make sure what we bought was actually installed (right model, color, etc.).
The bar sink and faucet is a smaller version of the main sink. We went with black granite sinks, similar to what we had in the Texas house. After 7 years, the sinks still looked great, and unlike stainless sinks, the granite sinks tend not to show scratch marks. The faucets are a 'touch' on/off technology, with internet and Alexa-enabled connectivity, for what use I haven't the vaguest idea.
Master Bath
In the master bathroom we chose an undercounted approach for the sinks rather than bowls on top of the counter. The wiring is for lighted mirrors that will get installed once we close on the house.
Master Bath
If y'all remember the master bathroom tub, this is now going to be demolished and rebuilt this week. As it turns out, the builder forgot that we ordered a jetted tub, and as such, they forgot to plan for the access door to the tub motor. As a result, the design has now changed to a rectangular tub enclosure, which requires reframing the entire tub enclosure, and re-tiling the enclosure. Hopefully they will get it done this week since the tub has now been delivered. Their nickel, not ours.
Pool
And, last but not least, the pool activity is moving along again. The gas company finally came out to bury their line, and move the fire pot jets to the correct locations. The electricians also finally arrived, installed the lighting and power, and did pass inspection. Now we wait for a shotcrete date to finally unite the pool.
All in all, things are finally coming together, with fewer puzzle pieces left on the table.
That's it for this week; see y'all next week!
