WEEK 33: Still Moving Slowly

Slowly, but surely, things continue to move along.

This last week has been one of finishing the ceramic tile floors, covering all of the floors, and starting on the bathroom tile work. Since 80% of the house is some sort of ceramic tile flooring, you gotta feel sorry for the knees of the guys that were laying this stuff. I don't know how anyone can do this type of work day after day and still walk upright.

In addition to the floor work, all of the outside carriage lighting and cameras have been installed. We've installed cameras on every angle outside, motion lighting, and a fairly sophisticated security system for doors and windows that is pretty unique.

The inside is taking shape as the tile work in the bathrooms gets completed. Jan chose some fairly basic designs to minimize maintenance and upkeep. The missing component is the glass enclosure, still to come.

The Guest Room bathrooms are finally completed, absent the glass enclosures as well. Glass seems to be the last items to be installed before final cleanup.

With this house, I decided against a whole house stereo system using a rack of equipment and scores of ceiling speakers. Instead, we're installing Sonos sound bars in every room with a TV, and tying them together with Alexa and Sonos amps. In this manner we can create a whole house effect, or just individual rooms/stations of sound. The Living Room will have ceiling speakers, as well as the outside patios for more of a surround effect, and I'm burying outdoor rock speakers in the planters around the pool area. This makes for an interchangeable system that is easy to replace by component as technology changes.

Lastly, I've also been taking pictures of small items that need to be corrected before our final walk-thru whenever the house is completed. Nothing major, but it brings out the OCD in us.

Everyone pictures Arizona as a barren, deserty environment, but surprisingly, it is full of flowers this time of year. Here is a pic of some blooming growies at the end of our street.

That's all for this week from sunny, COOL Kirkland, WA. See y'all next week!
